It's a Poly & Bark Sofa Review, Honey!

Updated: Jun 7, 2020

Hi, my honeys! When I tell you I could not contain my excitement for the arrival of our new Poly & Bark Napa Sectional Sofa, let me just say I REALLY mean it! I was pacing our empty living room on delivery day so anxious to see this beautiful piece of furniture in person! Stay tuned for a coupon code at the end of this review!

After months (feels like years) of weighing our options, comparing brands, and saving up, we finally bit the bullet and decided on the Napa Leather Sectional in Cognac from Poly & Bark! It did not disappoint, and that makes me a very happy lady! I wanted a sofa that would stand the test of time and serve as a staple piece in our collection, ready to move when we are and establish itself as a focal point in a new home if that happens in the near future. It does also come in a sofa version as well if you don’t have room for the sectional.

When the sofa arrived just a couple weeks after purchase, the delivery company (AM Trucking) brought it into our home and placed it where I wanted. All there was to do was check it over and make sure it looked good and screw on the dark wood feet. It took all of 10 minutes to do, and when I finally had our new sofa in place I had that feeling of accomplishment...when you just know the money you invested was worth it. I will say, I waited to post this blog for a few weeks, because I wanted to make sure we loved it and there wouldn't be any surprises! Well, we love it, and the only surprise we've experienced is just how comfortable this sofa really is! I have to say nearly a month later, I'm happy with our purchase and am thrilled we selected this sofa!

So lets get to the details:

We narrowed our search down to three different sofas from three different online retailers. I know some people don't like the idea of buying furniture online since you can't sit on the sofas beforehand, but I had an idea of what they would be like since we previously owned a nearly identical sofa from Article and loved the comfort of it. They all have solid return policies as well and off fabric swatches for you to decide on color.

The three sofas we were considering were:

Napa Sectional Sofa in Cognac from Poly & Bark

Sven Sectional Sofa in Tan from Article

Kinsey Sectional Sofa in Caramel from Structube

Here's what we considered while making our decision on a new sofa:

  1. Price - At $2499 for the Napa Sectional from Poly and Bark, we knew this was a BIG investment, but they offer interest free financing with FOUR directly on their site, which is a great option if you don't have the cash on hand, and there's no tax plus free shipping! Comparatively, Article's similar Sven Sectional is $3299. Finally, Structube's Kinsey Sectional is the least expensive at $2299.

  2. Quality - Each of the sectionals we were considering were made of full-grain Aniline leather from Italy, so we knew the leather would be high quality no matter which sofa we chose. Both the Article Sven Sectional and the Poly & Bark Napa Sectional offered high density foam with polyester filling, kiln dried wood frames with corner blocking for stability, and feather down padding on the seats and back cushions as well. Structube's Kinsey sofa did not specify any of these features. They all come with loose back and seat cushions and free bolsters. I cannot begin to tell you how great it is to be able to take the cushions off the couch to vacuum. I think comparatively, all three sofas seem to be of good quality. However, out of all of them Poly & Bark takes the cake when it comes to specifying each feature of the sofa. They were the only ones to specify the solid mahogany legs.

  3. Quick Shipment - We had been saving for a long time and were REALLY ready for a new sofa, so we didn't want to have to wait months for a new sofa. Both the Poly & Bark Napa Sectional and Sven Sectional from Article were ready to ship at the time of purchase, but the Structube Kinsey sectional was on backorder 'til January, so I decided to remove it from the equation at the point. Our old sofa was from Article and was not in stock when we went to purchase it, and we ended up waiting 7 weeks for our sofa...yeah, I would not do that again haha!

  4. Color: I wanted a true cognac leather color that felt a bit more like a warm brown than a mustard yellow. For me, the Poly & Bark Napa Sectional delivers on that rich, cognac color without being too orange (Structube's Kinsey in Caramel) or too yellow (Article's Sven in Tan).

  5. Size: Structube Kinsey Sectional: 99.5 inches wide, 34.5 inches high, doesn't say how many inches deep on the chaise, 21 inches deep on the seats Article Sven Sectional: 100 inches wide, 34 inches high, 52 inches deep on the chaise, 24 inches deep on the seats Poly & Bark Napa Sectional: 104.5 inches wide, 34.5 inches high, 52 inches deep on the chaise, 24 inches deep on the seats Poly & Bark's Napa Sectional is the largest with a generous seat depth and sofa width.

  • Fair Price with Interest Free Financing and Free Shipping

2020 Update:

We have now owned this sectional for over a year and a half, and we love it just as much as we did when it arrived if not more! It has held up incredibly well, the cushions are still quite fluffy, and the structure itself is sturdy! The leather softens even more over time, and any scratches melt into the sofa with the natural oils of the leather. Occasionally, we use some leather conditioning wipes on it to keep the leather moisturized, but it has held up so well without much upkeep at all. We have three cats with claws, and this piece still looks amazing, and that’s saying something! I’m writing this as we’re watching a movie laying on it comfortably, so it’s safe to say we’re still loving it! Thanks so much for reading!
